Rabbi Shalom Schachter’s experience uniquely bridges the biblical imperative to treat workers with respect together with practical support from his 35 years as a labour lawyer representing precarious workers. Shalom received his ordination from ALEPH the Alliance for Jewish Renewal in 2005. He is the Toronto Board of Rabbis representative to the Interfaith Social Assistance Reform Coalition. His recent rabbinic postings include assignments at Beth Tikvah and Beth Tzedec. Shalom was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1981. He is a member of the Toronto Christian Jewish Dialogue group identifying values that should inform efforts of the Federal and Ontario Governments in the design of any Basic Annual Income plan.
